Look Closer, Remember Who You Are, and Learn to Love Yourself
There is power in loving yourself. Raw, honest, passionate love. The only thing "wrong" with you is believing you aren't worthy of that love, exactly as you are.
What began as a standalone digital course has evolved into a thriving membership community empowering women to love, heal, and accept themselves—and, yes, learn how to take a good selfie!—through the transformative art of self-portrait photography.
no hacks, hustle, tricks, or shortcuts
Lisa combines heart with healing, adds the how, and lightly dusts with inspiration. Because true connection is about the experience and that magical, golden moment when everything comes together to make a meaningful difference for you and your self image.

I've always had a complicated relationship with myself around photographs. In my family I’m the photographer, which is great because I love photography, but it is also a convenient way to most often not be in a family photo. If I was in a photo, I was often in the back or hiding behind some object. Sometimes I wouldn’t mind a photo of me, but mostly I didn’t. Over the years I was found less and less in family photos and I joked that years from now you might wonder if I even existed.

HELPING WOMEN HEAL THROUGH THE CAMERA LENS
ONE PHOTO AT A TIME
*No photography experience necessary.
The Self Portrait Photography studio is for you if:
You are done picking yourself apart, photo after photo.
You can’t post a picture without cringing.
You want to learn how to take a good selfie (with iPhone cameras, ideally!).
You berate yourself for not being “perfect” or “beautiful enough”.
You are tired of comparing yourself to others on social media.
You believe you’ll never be photogenic.
You are camera shy.
You understand that you need strong brand photography to grow your personal brand, but hiring a professional photographer every quarter is out of your budget.
You wish someone would take you behind the scenes and show you exactly how to get that perfect shot and give you the confidence to try it yourself.
It’s time.
Before you read any further, know this:
Your feelings are valid.
You are seen.
You are heard.
You are held.
It’s tough to get in front of the camera. Some may even find it triggering. But it’s worth the discomfort. Why? Self portraiture is a powerful exercise to see yourself in a new way—the first step toward a new, healthy relationship with your face, your body, and your spirit. Until now, your experience in front of the camera has likely been limited: It’s not easy to feel at ease with a professional photographer. There’s the crush of vulnerability coupled with the pressure to perform (you only booked an hour long session, after all). Still, you expect to do well and look your best—and when you don’t, you blame yourself. We’ve all experienced that same internal dialogue: Not photogenic enough, not thin enough, not radiant enough, not relaxed enough, not happy enough…not worthy. Not true!
None of it is true.
It’s time to learn how to love yourself and be confident through the transformative power of self portrait photography.

"I've always had a complicated relationship with photographs. In my family, I’m the photographer, a convenient way to not be in a family photo. I joked that years from now you might wonder if I even existed.
From what I thought was just a twist on a photography course became so much more. It began three months of transformation. I spent time with myself and learned to recognize my angles and curves. I took took hundreds of photos and experimented with the weekly prompts (themes). I was free to creatively express myself and this opened up my creative energy to all aspects of my life. It became more than just self acceptance, but allowing to see the light inside me."

"Lisa is truly an expert in her field. I was impressed not only by her tips and tricks for taking better photos, but also by her deep understanding of the psychological factors that influence how we see ourselves. Lisa's approach is unique in that she doesn't just teach you how to take better photos; she teaches you how to love yourself and appreciate your own unique beauty. Her use of psychology and studies really brought the ah-ha moments home for me."

FREQUENTLY ASKED
WHO IS THE MEMBERSHIP FOR?
Everyone. Anyone. You don’t need to be a photographer or have photography experience to join. In fact, even our more seasoned photographers find themselves back at the starting line. So, even if you have oodles of experience, it won't give you an advantage. SPS is for the woman who seeks the confidence to love her pictures—and for those of you who can’t wait to be your own brand photographer.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO JOIN? NOW OR DURING A CHALLENGE?
No time like the present. All of our studio content, including the 8-week challenge, is evergreen and self-paced so the best time to join is now.
WILL IT WORK FOR ME?
Yes. If you follow along with the modules and simply start, you will achieve the results you are looking for. I've seen it again and again: members too nervous to begin, worried they aren't good enough or that their photos won't be perfect, stuck in the “but how?” Once you release rigid expectations and become curious, everything shifts. Magic happens, friends.
WHAT IS THE 8-WEEK PHOTO CHALLENGE?
Glad you asked, because these challenges are so much fun! Once you've completed the Self Portrait Course inside the membership, you'll put your powerful new skills to use in an evergreen 8-week challenge that has a carefully curated prompt with supportive resources like moodboards, process videos, and BTS peeks into Lisa's own aesthetic process. You'll follow the prompts, share your photos, and receive personalized feedback from Lisa and our supportive community of female self-portrait photographers.
DO YOU PROVIDE MAKE UP TIPS OR SHARE HOW TO EDIT UNDER-EYE CIRCLES?
Our goal is to show you how to find and use the most even and flattering light for your sessions by avoiding the harsh light responsible for casting shadows in the first place. Knowing how to find lighting goes a long way to creating beautiful self portrait photography. We’ll also teach you about the angles and planes of your face—and how the camera will actually read them. You'll love access to the SPS Library of workshops for extra resources.
WHAT IF I'M NERVOUS ABOUT POSTING MY PHOTOS IN THE COMMUNITY?
100% valid question. Many of us have deep wounding around our self image and uncovering what’s underneath those layers can feel intense. SPS is thoughtfully designed to give you a supportive, safe space to shed those layers—and sharing your photos helps you receive the full benefits of the membership while evolving, growing, and becoming more confident. I recommend our stand-alone digital course instead.
WHEN DO WE START TAKING SELF-PORTRAITS? WHAT IF I NEED HELP?
First, know that everyone who joins the membership is on the starting line with you.
The video modules and resources in the Self Portrait Course are designed for women who are completely new to the world of photography. We’ll cover the principles of self portrait photography from prep to location, flattering lighting and self portrait clothes, and execution. Pressure for perfection doesn’t exist here, and the best way to learn is to simply begin. You’re encouraged to ask for help in the online women’s community—Lisa or one of our seasoned members are available for support and additional feedback.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Unlike other memberships, we won’t ask you to make a minimum commitment to the Studio. It’s our hope that you will enjoy developing your skills over several challenges and find our resource library and guest speakers inspiring enough to stay. Some of our members have been with us since the studio was founded. Due to the nature of online business, we cannot offer refunds once you’ve accessed your content, but we’re invested in your satisfaction and will jump through flaming hoops to solve your problems. If you’re not 100% sure about our product, please see our FAQs.
I WANT TO DEVELOP MY OWN STYLE & POINT OF VIEW.
Hear hear! Self portraits are a fantastic visual benchmark for your self-development progress. A quick flip through previous sessions will demonstrate just how much you have evolved creatively, emotionally, and spiritually in a short period of time. We always cap off our 8-week challenges by revisiting the first prompt in the series. Members continue to be astounded by the rapid evolution of their personal editing, confidence, and style in that short period of time.
TALK TO ME ABOUT TECH. WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO I NEED?
One of the ways I keep things simple and stress-free is by shooting everything on my iPhone. SPS members shoot everything on their mobile phone cameras with a tripod and natural lighting. Besides, learning how to take a good selfie with iPhone cameras is a handy skill to develop, whether for a private self love photoshoot or a night out!
IS THIS MEMBERSHIP A TAX WRITE OFF?
If you’re running a business where you need personal brand photography, general photography, or ongoing education credits, then you generally can write off this class 100% as an educational expense. Please double check with your accountant or tax website in your country for more information.
WHAT IF MY SPACE ISN'T 'GRAM WORTHY?
Ah, this is one of the biggest pain points for members! Not to worry. I take you behind the scenes into my own space, showing you the nooks and crannies I've carved out for my photo sessions and share tips on finding the best light and location for your space
Any lingering questions that weren’t answered here? Don’t hesitate to reach out with any clarifications or concerns. We’re here to help!
THE POST SELF-PORTRAIT GLOW IS REAL +
THERE IS NO ONE TO IMPRESS BUT YOURSELF
Self-portrait photography is a powerful way to evolve your self perception. Each time I wrap a session and sit down to look at the photos (it's imperative that you don't skip this part), I see myself in an entirely new way, with increased compassion and satisfaction.
SPS members are encouraged to share photos they feel are unsuccessful along with the ones they feel most proud of. Both offer an opportunity to expand our perception of what a beautiful image needs to look like. We’ll learn why we prefer certain images over others and that success doesn't mean flawless. Perfection is predictable, boring, and derivative and when you learn to love yourself, your definition of beauty shifts completely. There’s just one condition: you must be in the photo. The real you. That’s it.
Now, you’re free.

"The moment I released my need to be perfect on camera was the same moment I became photogenic."
Let’s just say, when I found Lisa, I’d rather clean our toilets than be in portraits. Lisa’s confidence spilled over into me, and has expanded my comfort zone to such an extent that I landed smack in the middle of being….well, comfortable!
Comfortable on camera, comfortable in my own skin, in my own body —being seen as ME.
That confidence has supported me as I launched my first program, refined how I work with clients, as I’m building my website and showing up on social media, as EXACTLY MYSELF.
